M5 Max or M5 Ultra?
M5 Max is the one for most studios: an 18‑core CPU with up to a 40‑core GPU, up to 128GB of memory and up to five displays. M5 Ultra is two M5 Max fused into one chip, up to 36 CPU and 80 GPU cores, up to 512GB of memory at 1.2TB/s and up to eight displays. The Ultra earns its money on work that actually saturates it, such as running frontier‑class models on device or grading uncompressed 8K. Below that, the Max is the better buy.
